Welcome to the heartbeat of the Aegean. When I designed Kalvokoresi 16 Suites, I envisioned more than just accommodation; I wanted to create a refined sanctuary in the heart of Chios Town that serves as your gateway to the island's secrets. Many of our guests arrive wanting to find the "real" Chios, and my advice is always the same: follow the coastline. Our island is a "hidden gem" that reveals itself slowly, and these 18 shores are the best way to hear its story.
These world-class landmarks define the visual identity of Chios.

If you visit only one beach, let it be this one. Known locally as Mavros Gialos, it is world-class for its deep black volcanic pebbles—or liladia—formed by a prehistoric volcanic eruption. The water is deep blue and exceptionally clear, creating a landscape that feels otherworldly and pure.

Tucked at the southern tip of the island, Vroulidia feels like a secret discovered only by a few. To reach it, you descend a cliffside to a secluded cove with exotic turquoise waters and a perfect view of the "Venetiko" islet.

This is the place I recommend when you want to truly disappear. Located near the medieval village of Olympoi, it features pure white sand and emerald waters. There is a small chapel on the cliff that gives the beach its name, and the contrast of colors is breathtaking.
A blend of cosmopolitan energy and untouched, quiet coves.

Agia Fotia is a favorite for families and locals alike. A pebble beach with deep blue waters, it is surrounded by traditional seaside tavernas where you can enjoy fresh seafood just meters from the waves.

If you seek absolute quiet and raw nature, Apothika is for you. This rugged bay is a favorite for water sports enthusiasts, particularly those looking to kayak through the clear southern waters.

Near the medieval village of Mesta, you will find Avlonia. It is a serene, less-touristic spot that offers total immersion in the island's natural, rocky landscape—perfect for escaping the world.

Lithi is a natural harbor famous for its fresh fish and lobster. Because the waters are shallow and sandy, it is safe for children. Stay until dusk—the sunsets over the fishing boats are the most beautiful on the west coast.
Rugged, high-contrast landscapes where the forest meets the sea.

On the west coast, Elinda is a pristine, deep bay where the pine forest literally reaches the shore. It is an untouched paradise located near the village of Avgonima.

Located near the historic village of Volissos, Limnos features deep waters and a mix of sand and pebbles. It is a quiet spot where you can feel the wilder, northern spirit of Chios.

A stone's throw from Limnos, Lefkathia is an organized beach known for thick sand and exceptionally clear waters. It offers comfort without losing its northern purity.

Managros is the largest beach on Chios, stretching for 3 kilometers. It is an impressive sandy stretch and a protected Natura area, offering immense space for peaceful reflection.

Located directly in front of the monastery of the island’s patron saint, this shore has deep spiritual significance. If you follow the path to where the saint martyred, you will find a spot where warm spring water bubbles up into the sea.
Perfect for mornings when you want a quick swim before exploring town.

In the northeast, Nagos is where lush greenery meets the sea. It is a small bay with fine pebbles and cold waters fed by natural mountain springs, making it incredibly refreshing.

For guests who love music, Glaroi is the place to be. It is a youthful, cosmopolitan beach known for its beach bar, energetic vibe, and bright blue waters.

Once a secret, Mersinidi is a quiet beach north of town, easily accessible and located right below a monastery. It offers clear waters and a sense of calm.

Daskalopetra is a historic beach located just 6km north of Chios Town, characterized by its bright white pebbles and deep, crystal-clear waters. The area is globally famous for Homer’s Stone, an ancient rock sanctuary where tradition holds that the epic poet taught his students nearly 3,000 years ago. Today, it remains a favorite for locals due to its proximity to the city, its organized seaside facilities, and the picturesque fishing port lined with traditional tavernas and cafes.

Karfas is the most popular sandy beach near town, known for its warm, shallow waters. It is the premier choice for families, offering every modern comfort.
